Brett Noerager (right) is University Scholar for 2012-13. 

About Brett Noerager He received a Bachelor's degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of California in San Diego and his PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He joined the Dept of Biology, Chemistry and Math as an Assistant Professor of Biology in August of 2007. He has published a number of nationally peer-reviewed papers, including "A Critical Role for LTA4H in Limiting Chronic Pulmonary Neutrophilic Inflammation" in the journal Science. For the last three years he has presented his research at the American Thoracic Society International Scientific Research Conference.

About the UM University Scholar The University Scholar is a faculty member who has excelled in scholarly or creative endeavors as evidenced by nationally peer-review publications, grants, performances, shows, etc. The nominating process is opened in the spring and is open to all faculty members. Nominations are reviewed by a committee consisting of past University Scholars.
