Professional Internships

The internship is completed during the spring semester of the senior year for 6 hours credit. A minimum of 200 hours of interaction and leadership at the internship site is required. Internships are arranged by students and should fit the student's interests, abilities, and need for experience.

In addition to General Education Requirements and the Family and Consumer Sciences core, Child and Family Studies students take the following courses:

  • Infant Development

  • Methods and Guidance of Young Children

  • Adolescence

  • Marriage and Family Relationships

  • Implementation of Early Childhood Programs

  • Administration of Programs

Minor Courses

A minor from outside the Department of family and Consumer Sciences is required. The minor is intended to completed the major and to assist students in capitalizing on their personal aptitudes and interests. Suggested minors are business, deaf studies, English, human services, mass communication, music, and other fields.
