Faculty Senate
November 10, 2006
Call to Order: The meeting was called
to order at 2:02 p.m.
Members Present: Stephanie Puleo,
Kathy Lowe, Elizabeth Thrower, Eric Vaccarella,
Jill Wicknick, Lanny McMinn, Houston Byrd,
Stacey Ayotte, Michelle Duran-McLure, Harry
Hamilton, Kristen Gilbert
Approval of Previous Meeting's meetings:
Senator Ayotte moved to approve; Senator Gilbert
seconded. Passed.
President's Report:
- President Puleo went to the Board of
Trustees meeting and presented the Faculty
Senate report. The Board is interested in
our concerns and wants to maintain an open
communication with Faculty Senate.
- President Puleo mentioned that the Board
of Trustees will have a retreat with
President Williams in January, which will
begin the University's "brain storming
sessions" requested by President
Williams. It is important for the Senate to
present President Williams with a draft of
the Senate's role within the University
before this retreat.
Old Business:
- Senator Wicknick reported on the status of
Pre-Tenure Research Leave. Senator Thrower
moved to present the Pre-Tenure Research
Leave to President Williams. Senator Ayotte
seconded the motion. The motion passed.
- A report on the Senate's Role within the
University was presented by the
subcommittee. A rough draft of the role was
passed amongst the Senate and was discussed.
The sub-committee will finalize a draft,
which will be presented to President
Williams on November 29, 2006
- Senator Hamilton gave an update on the
Budget Committee. A formal report will be
given at a later meeting.
New Business:
- President Puleo reported that only one
name has been submitted for the CASE
professor. A description of the
qualifications was read. Please remind your
Chairs and Deans that their recommendations
are needed.
Senator Thrower moved that the meeting be
adjourned. Senator Duran-McClure seconded and
the motion passed unanimously. Adjourned at 2:47
p.m.
