CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Minutes of the April 16, 2004 meeting were
approved.
WELCOME NEW SENATORS
The new Senators present, Cindy Tidwell and
Jason Cooper, were welcomed.
PRESIDENT'S UPDATE
Space Utilization Committee
The Space Utilization Committee heard the
Faculty Senate's proposal to convert the Bowling
Alley into a Faculty Lounge with minimal cost to
the University. Copies of the proposals,
Faculty Senate and SGA proposals, with
associated costs will go to the Board of
Trustees.
Letter regarding adjunct
decisions
The letter regarding the adjunct decisions was
sent to Dr. McChesney. A copy will go to
the Provost, Deans and Chairs as well.
There will be a Board of Trustee’s Meeting on May 7, 2004.
SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS
Sabbatical Policy
The Senate voted to accept the Sabbatical Policy
and send to the Deans and the Board of Trustees.
Convocation/Commencement Policy
The Senate voted to accept the Convocation/Commencement
Policy.
Faculty Salary
Administration Policy
The Senate voted to accept the report on Faculty
Salary Administration.
Faculty Survey
Dr. Walsh provided copies of the results of the
Faculty Survey for 2003-2004.
Bookstore
Dr. Daughhetee will continue to meet with the
Director of the Bookstore.
NEW BUSINESS
Discussion of Transition
Issues
Accomplishments for 2003-2004 were reviewed by
President Parker:
5 formal recommendations were submitted
A proposal for a Faculty Lounge
A second Faculty Survey was conducted
The use of liaisons continued
Subsequent Senates were encouraged to meet
throughout the summer.
Election of 04-05 Officers
The Colleges of Business and Education have
vacant positions available in the Faculty Senate
for 2004-2005.
The Senate voted unanimously to declare a quorum
for the election of officers.
The election results are as follows:

CONCLUDING COMMENTS
President Parker thanked everyone for their hard
