Recommended Calendar
Fall semester:
Student must enroll in ENG 500, Introduction to Graduate Studies.
Spring semester:
Before the student has completed 12 hours in the program, he or she must complete and submit the Thesis Advising Form to the Coordinator of the M.A. program.
Summer:
Before beginning thesis hours, the student must have submitted a thesis prospectus and a proposed reading list to their primary thesis advisor for approval. The approval form will be held and also approved by the Coordinator of the M.A. program.
Fall semester:
Student will begin thesis work, enrolling in the first of two thesis classes for 3 credits
each.
Spring semester:
Student will register for 3 credits of thesis work.
By February 1st, student must have a defense date scheduled with the English
Department.
Approximately 4 weeks before the defense date, the student must have the thesis
submitted to his or her committee for review.
Thesis defense and revisions.
The chair must sign off on the revised thesis in order for the degree to be completed.
Summer:
If the student chooses, he or she may defend the thesis in the summer, but must have
registered for at least 3 credits (presumably the thesis writing course) in the semester
chosen for the defense.
