The Master of Arts degree in English
at the University of Montevallo
Our program offers
Exciting, innovative courses. Our curriculum is flexible, challenging, and diverse. Graduate students have the opportunity to fill gaps in their literary knowledge and to pursue their intellectual passions.
A collegial intellectual environment. Our graduate students work closely with faculty, with each other and with undergraduates to learn interactively and collaboratively in preparation for the literary life.
Thorough professional preparation. Whether planning to go on to PhD work or to enter the non-academic workforce, our graduate students receive support and guidance toward their professional and personal goals.
Supportive faculty. Our faculty members are all publishing scholars who value their roles as teachers and mentors.
Evening classes. Many of our graduate courses are offered in the evening to accommodate working students.
Opportunities for teacher-training. Graduate students are provided with many opportunities to hone their teaching skills through tutoring and teaching undergraduates in a variety of settings.
