The program in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at the University of Montevallo is an undergraduate academic program leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree and Class B Special Education Certification (endorsement in the area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing) by the State Department of Education. The Mission of the program is to prepare teachers who are competent professionals with the ability to make appropriate decisions regarding the evaluation and implementation of educational programs to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Students must meet requirements to the Teacher Education Program (TEP) as outlined in the University Bulletin. Following completion of the general education requirements the student must complete a professional education and major course of study curriculum.
