Why doesn't the Print Management Popup
Software popup on the PC?
![]()
Sometimes, the Popup software “pops under.” Look on the taskbar at
the bottom of the screen to see if the Popup Software is minimized. Click on it
to bring it to the front.
On a Mac, the Print Management Popup Software doesn’t popup.
What's wrong?
![]()
There is no Popup Software client for the Mac. Your print job will
be sent to the Print Release Station using the name of the Mac from which you
printed. Look at the top of the Mac’s monitor for the name of the Mac, and log
in to the Print Release Station using that name.

Print Server is not available. I’m on a PC.

The PC you are using may not be logged in properly. Follow these
steps:

How do I switch to the color printer?
![]()
In most applications, such as Word, click File, then
Print. Where the name of the printer is shown, use the down arrow
to change from the default black and white printer to the color printer. Click
OK to begin printing.
Do black and white print jobs sent to the color printer cost
the same as color copies?
![]()
Yes, all print jobs sent to the color printer are charged the color
rate, regardless of how much color they use. If you have a document that is
mostly black and white, but contains a few illustrations you want printed in
color, you might consider printing only those color pages to the color printer,
and the rest to the black and white printer.
Am I required to print every print-job I send to the Release
Station?
![]()
No. When you log in to the Release Station, you can delete any print
jobs you no longer want to print.
Can I print more than one document at a time from the Release
Station?
![]()
Yes, simply highlight all the documents you wish to print by clicking
on them while holding down the Shift key, then click Print Selected.
You can also choose Select All to print everything you have submitted at
once.
Do I need to run to the Release Station as soon as I’ve
submitted a print job?
![]()
No. Print jobs are saved under your User ID for one hour. You can
send as many jobs to the Release Station as you wish, then go and print them
all, so long as you do so within one hour.
How do I get my Cash Card out of the Card Reader?
![]()
Your Cash Card should be automatically ejected from the Card Reader
when you pay for a print job. However, if it is not, or if you decide not to
print anything, simply press the button at the base of the Reader to eject the
card.
I see someone else’s documents when I log into the
Print Release Station. Why?
![]()
On a PC, you might see someone else’s print jobs if you and
someone else coincidentally chose the same UserID and were printing at nearly
the same time. This is why it is recommended that you choose a UserID that is
unlikely to be used by someone else.
On a Mac, you will see all unprinted documents sent from the Mac
you were using within the last hour. Unlike the PC, Print Management on the Mac
is machine specific, not user specific.
I accidentally printed someone else’s document. Can I get a
refund?
![]()
No.
I don’t see my documents when I log into the Print Release
Station. Why?
![]()
On a PC, you may not be using the correct UserID. Remember, you
must log into the Print Release Station using the same UserID you created when
you printed the document. Also, the UserID is case specific.
On a Mac, you may not be typing the name of the Mac correctly at
the Print Release Station. Remember, the parentheses are a part of the
Mac’s name.
Do I have to use the same UserID every time I print?
![]()
No, but it’s probably a good idea to do so. Using the same unique
UserID every time will make it easier for you to remember.
What happens to my print job if I don’t release it within 1
hour?
![]()
It is deleted from the queue. You will have to resubmit it.
How do I log in to the print release station when using a Mac?
![]()
You log in using the name of the Mac from which you printed as your
UserID. The name of each Mac can be found taped to the monitor above the top of
the screen.
I sent a print job to the black & white printer and a print
job to the color printer. Can I release them both at the same time?
![]()
Yes.
How do I get a Cash Card?
![]()
Cash Cards can be purchased from the vending machine on the main
floor of the Library, near the elevator.
How much do the Cash Cards cost? How many copies can I make?
![]()
Your initial Cash Card costs $1.00 and provides $0.90 of print
value. Additional value can be added to the card at the same vending machine.
How do I add additional money to my Cash Card?
![]()
Insert the card into the vending machine, then insert $1 or 5$ bills
as you prefer. The value will be added to your card.
