How to Register Your Computer Online
Using the Student Computer Network Registration
Process
(NETREG)
Before attempting to register your computer using NETREG, please configure
your computer for the University of Montevallo's network using the steps
appropriate for your computer:
Once you have successfully configured your computer's network settings, you
will be able to access the University's network, but the only web site you will
be able to view will be the Network Registration site.
Here's how to register your computer with NETREG:
- Run Internet Explorer. The
UM Network Registration site will automatically
load. (If it doesn't, call the Help Desk
at (205) 665-6520.)
- Click the link to read the
Code for Computer Resource Use.
- Login to the registration page using
your UMail username and password.
- Complete the registration form, following
the onscreen instructions.
- Turn off your computer and unplug your patch
cable from the wall jack.
- Wait five (5) minutes.
- Reconnect your patch cable to the wall jack and turn
on your computer.
- You should now be able to access the Internet.
NOTE: All students accessing the UM network are expected to abide by
the
Code for
Computer Resource Use. You can also contact the Computer Services Help Desk at
(205) 665-6520 to obtain a copy of the Code.
Common Questions About NETREG:

sure to bring your student ID. Please note that the Help Desk will not
give out account information over the phone.
- If I change rooms, will I have to register my
computer again?
If you change rooms during any given semester, you will not need to
reregister your computer. At the beginning of each term you will need
