Blackboard

What is Blackboard? Blackboard is the University of Montevallo’s online classroom support tool.  UM faculty use Blackboard to build web-based content for their classes.  With Blackboard, UM faculty and students can participate in online courses or use online materials to supplement traditional classroom methods. Where do I find Blackboard? Blackboard is available inside ForUM via the “Featured Links” Channel found at the top-left of most ForUM tabs.  You can also go straight to the Blackboard page by clicking the "User Login" link on the left. What is my Blackboard Username? Your Blackboard username is the same as your ForUM username.  What is my Blackboard Password? If you have never logged into Blackboard, you will need to create your initial password (see below).  If you have previously logged into Blackboard, your password is whatever you previously set it to be.  (Note that your Blackboard password is NOT the same as your ForUM password unless you intentionally set it to be so.)

How do I create my initial Blackboard Password?

1. Click the “Forgot password” link above.
2. On the “Lost Password” screen, fill in either the “Username Option” or the “Email Address Option” (but not both), then click “Submit".
3. An email will be sent to the email address associated with your account in Blackboard.  If you are a student, this will be your ForUM Email account.  If you are faculty or staff, it will be sent to your Exchange Email account.
4. The email will contain a link that will take you to a web page where you can create or reset your Blackboard password. 

What do I do if I’ve forgotten my Blackboard Password?
You can reset a forgotten password using the same steps found under “How do I create my initial Blackboard Password?” above.
