and Job Description
Candidates for student worker positions in
Technology Services should have a certain basic set of skills to be
able to assist the Technology Services Department efficiently and effectively, as listed
below. In addition to those duties listed under job description, you may also be asked to
perform other duties as needed or when so requested by the Technology Services staff. Our
expectation is performance to the best of your ability on all tasks requested by
Technology
Services.

Minimum Required Skills
- Interest in and general knowledge of PC’s and/or MAC computers
- Interest in helping people
- Good communication skills
- Basic problem solving skills
- Reliable and able to consistently perform as expected
- Follow and enforce rules and policies
- Work a set schedule (MUST show up on time for work!)
Job Description
- Assist users in utilizing computer lab resources, including assistance
with word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software, printing documents, and
access other network resources as appropriate;
- Refer users to other information resources when necessary to resolve
computer usage issues;
- Monitor computer lab activity;
- Maintain a neat, orderly and quiet computer lab to include routine cleaning of
computers and computer lab floors and furniture;
- Check printer for toner and paper;
- Handle phone calls and assist office visitors as appropriate when
working in the office;
- Any other task as assigned by Technology Services;
- Maintain confidentiality of University of Montevallo and Ellucian proprietary information at
all times.
