What is ForUM Email?  
ForUM Email is the email account that comes with your University of Montevallo ForUM account.  ForUM Email is one of the ways the University will send official communications to you.

ForUM Email is a hosted email service provided by Microsoft Corporation through their Live@edu program.  Live@edu provides educational institutions with a free, hosted set of online applications for students, starting with email.
 

What is a hosted email service?  
Saying that ForUM Email is a “hosted” email service means that the hardware and software that run the service are not located on campus.  Rather, they are “hosted” at a remote location by Microsoft.  UM personnel, however, continue to manage the service.
 

I already have an email account.  Why should I use ForUM Email?  
Official communications from the University of Montevallo will often be sent to your ForUM Email account.  (Note that ForUM Email is not the only way you will receive official communications from the University, but it is an important one.)  Also, faculty will be using your ForUM Email account to send important information about your courses and school work.
 

How do I login to my ForUM Email?  
First, login to ForUM.  (You can access ForUM by clicking the ForUM link at the top of the University of Montevallo home page.)  Once you’ve logged into ForUM, click the ForUM Email icon at the top-right of the page to be automatically logged into ForUM.

Your ForUM Email username is your full ForUM Email address. (example: jsmith25@forum.montevallo.edu)

Your ForUM Email password is the same as your ForUM password.
 

How do I find my ForUM Email Address?  
Your ForUM Email address is your ForUM username in front of “@forum.montevallo.edu”.

For example, if your ForUM username were jsmith25, your ForUM Email address would be jsmith25@forum.montevallo.edu.
 

What features does ForUM Email have?

Can I keep my ForUM Email account after I leave the University?  
As of August 2008, the University has made no determination regarding the life-span of ForUM Email accounts.  (In other words, “Yes, for now.”)
 

What web browsers will work with ForUM Email?  
Any modern web browser (Firefox, Safari, etc.) should work with ForUM Email.  However, only Internet Explorer 7  and 8 will allow access to the full range of options and customizations available in ForUM Email.
 

Is there a way for me to reset my password if I’ve forgotten it?  
Yes.  Since your ForUM Email password is the same as your ForUM password, resetting your ForUM password will also rest your ForUM Email password.
 

Will ForUM Email work with any mobile devices?  
Yes, check “Help” inside ForUM Email for details.
