Older Versions of Macintosh OS X
and the New Daylight Saving
Time Law
Synopsis:
There are no DST patches available for versions of OSX prior to OS 10.3.
Users of earlier versions of OSX who wish to make their computers DST-compliant
must either upgrade to a newer Mac operating system or manually change the time
on their computer twice a year.
Procedure:
- Contact the Computer Services Help Desk at (205) 665-6520 or send an
email to helpdesk@montevallo.edu
if you wish to discuss upgrade options.
- If you wish to stay with an earlier version of OSX, you will have to
manually change the time on your computer twice a year:
- Click the Apple menu, then choose System Preferences:

- Double click the Date & Time icon:

- Uncheck the Set date & time automatically box:

This step is necessary to prevent your computer from observing the old
DST rules. You will only have to do this once.
- Set the correct time:

You will need to manually change the time on your computer twice a year
(when DST begins and ends).
