How to Determine the Version of Windows You are Using

1. Click Start, then Run.
    
2. In the Run box, type winver:
   
    
3. Click OK.
    
4. The About Windows box lists the version of Windows you have:
   
   Windows 2000:
   
   
   Windows XP:
   
    
5. Make a note of which version of Windows you have.  In the case of Windows XP, be sure to note the Service Pack version as well.
