The COE welcomes Mrs. JiJi Lawley who joins the elementary education program faculty in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Mrs. Lawley earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Montevallo. She has been a teacher and administrator for the last nine years in the Shelby County School District. Mrs. Lawley is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in elementary education at the University of Alabama.

Dr. Jo Lynn Suell also joins the faculty in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Dr. Suell will teach courses in special education and work alongside Dr. Hollie Cost to offer the Collaborative Teaching major. Dr. Suell earned degrees from Troy University and the University of West Florida. She taught in the public schools for 16 years, and comes to us most recently from Sul Ross State University in west Texas. In addition, we welcome Dr. Suell as a valuable asset in the area of online and web-enhanced instruction.

Also joining the faculty in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction is Teacher-in-Residence, Mrs. Amy Rooker. Mrs. Rooker is “on loan” to the University of Montevallo for one year from the Bibb County Board of Education. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Montevallo, and was selected as an outstanding alumnus in the College of Education in spring 2008. We are fortunate to benefit from her re-investment in her alma mater.

Finally, we are pleased to welcome Mrs. Leisa Creel who will serve as a fulltime adjunct instructor in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Mrs. Creel earned her degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State. She brings a wealth of practical experience to the elementary education program, having worked in the Mississippi schools for over 20 years. She served for the last 9 years as a reading coach & specialist in her school with the Success for All reading program. |
