Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track
Course Requirements

(The University of Montevallo's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program is seeking CACREP accreditation under the new 2009 CACREP standards.  The University of Montevallo's Community Counseling program is currently accredited through December 31, 2011 under the CACREP 2001 standards; however, we are no longer admitting students to a Community Counseling track.  All new students are admitted to the new Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.)

Community/Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track (60 total hours):
Core Courses (30 hours):
EDC 502 Theories/Techniques of Counseling (3 hours, required 1^st semester enrolled)
EDF 503 Foundations of Test Administration and Interpretation (3 hours)
EDC 515 Prepracticum in Interpersonal Skills (3 hours, required 1^st semester enrolled)
EDC 530 Professional, Ethical, and Legal Issues in Counseling (3 hours)
EDC 550 Group Procedures in Counseling (3 hours)
EDC 557 Systemic Strategies for Crisis Intervention (3 hours)
EDC 570 Career and Lifestyle Development (3 hours)
EDF 580 Advanced Human Growth and Development (3 hours)
EDF 620 Social and Multicultural Foundations (3 hours)
EDF 600 Applied Research in Education and Behavioral Sciences (3 hours)
