On-Campus Resident Meal Plan FAQ

Q. How can I change or drop my meal plan?
A. Students can change their meal plan options during the first week after classes start. After 1 week, no more changes can be made to the meal plan. Students must submit their requested changes in writing to the office of Housing and Residence Life in West Main Hall.

Students cannot drop their meal plans as long as they live in on-campus housing. With the exception of upperclassmen living in Peck Hall or the New Residence Hall, all on-campus residents are required to buy a meal plan when they pay for on-campus housing. Upperclassmen living in Peck Hall or the New Residence Hall have the option of buying a meal plan, but are not required to do so.

Any requests for medical or disability-related modification regarding the required meal plan should be addressed to Disability Support Services (DSS@montevallo.edu, 205-665-6250). DSS is located in the rear of Main Hall. Additional information made be found on the DSS website (http://www.montevallo.edu/sswd).

Q. Can I add more Bonus Points to my account?
A. Yes. Stop by the Sodexo Office to add money to your account.

Q. Do my meals roll over to the next semester?
A. No. Meals and Flex Points do not roll over to the next semester.

Q. What happens to my Flex Points if I withdraw from school?
A. Points are not dollars. They are like unused meals. You will receive a prorated portion of your balance, according to UM's policy.

Q. Can I use my points to eat extra meals in the dining hall?
A.
Yes. Perhaps you have a 5 meal/week plan, but you need to eat 6 or 7 meals one week. You can use your Flex Points to eat in the dining hall.

Q. Can I come into the dining hall more than one time during a meal?
A. Yes. The second time you enter the cafeteria during the same meal, you will need to tell the cashier to use your Flex Points.

Flex Points
Flex Points come with some dining plans. Flex Points are added to your meal card and can be used at on-campus dining locations such as WOW, Starbucks, Ollie’s, and Anna Irvin Dining Hall to treat a friend to a meal or to eat additional meals not included in your meal plan. For example, if you have Meal Plan D (5 meals a week) and want to eat additional meals in the dining hall that week, or if you come back during the same meal time to eat again, the dollar value of the door price will be deducted from the card.

  • Your Flex Points are in your dining account, and all you need to do is present your ID card to make a purchase. Your Flex Point balance is provided each time you use your card.

  • Adding additional money to your Flex account is easy. Stop by the Sodexo Office to add money to your account.

  • Flex Points are non-refundable.

Commuter and Faculty/Staff Meal Plans
If you are a commuter, faculty, or staff, you can purchase a meal plan from the cashier in Anna Irvin Dining Hall with cash or check. If you prefer to use a credit card, call or visit the Sodexo Office, which is located in the breezeway across from the Anna Irvin entrance to the dining hall. Reach us by phone at 205-665-8233.

The balance for commuter, faculty, and staff meal plans rolls over to the next semester.
