The Alabama Traffic Safety Center at the University of Montevallo offers a one-day seminar focusing on the needs of learner’s license holders.
The Novice Driver Training Course is geared to the developmental driving demands of learner’s license holders. Basic vehicle handling skills are taught in classroom and vehicle settings. The concepts of proper habit formation, zone control, targeting, reference points, along with the key factors of line of sight and path of travel are introduced in the classroom and reinforced utilizing the Skid Monster training vehicle. Students develop skills in braking, lane positioning, and turning.
In addition, professional instructors attempt to identify and reduce improper habits which often exist in less experienced drivers. Time is divided between interactive classroom activities and hands-on, in-car range driving experiences.
All course participants will receive a certificate of completion.
