Motorcycle Safety Program
The BRC is designed primarily for those who have limited or no riding experience, or for 6those who have been away from riding for a number of years. The course includes classroom instruction and riding skills exercises. It begins with the basics of controls, turning, shifting and stopping.
Professionally trained RiderCoaches teach in the classroom and coach riders in a controlled riding area. Since the course involves riding skill development, applicants must be able to ride a bicycle. If you have not ridden a bicycle in a long time, it would help to do so prior to the start of the BRC, to assist with balance and hand-eye coordination.
We provide the motorcycle, handbook, and helmet for the course. You may bring your own helmet, if you prefer (it must be DOT approved). You must have in your possession a valid driver's license. If you are 14 or 15 years of age you must have a motor-driven cycle license. For riding, you will need long sleeve shirt, pants, full-fingered gloves, eye protection, boots or shoes that cover the ankles, with low heels (1" or less), and rain gear if the weather is threatening.
You must be at least 14 years of age to enroll. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the required waiver form prior to the course. In order to pass, you must attend all classroom and riding sessions, and pass knowledge and skill tests. By taking this course you may be eligible for an insurance discount. Please check with your insurance company to verify.
