FALCONS SIGN THREE FOR 2008-09

MONTEVALLO (5/1) – The University of Montevallo men’s golf program has signed three student-athletes for the 2008-09 school year.

Nathan Brown from Cullman, Aaron Ebert from Huron, Ohio and Jordan Melanson from Nelson, British Columbia have signed letters of intent to compete for the Falcons, beginning in Fall 2008.

Brown, a two-time 3A All-State as well as an All-County, All-Area and All-Region selection at Good Hope High School in Cullman, was named Cullman County Player of the Year and Low Medalist in the Cullman County Tournament in 2007. He also won the 2007 Elks Tournament, where he set a course record at Cullman Municipal Golf Course (63). He has been part of a team that has advanced to the "Elite Eight" in their division all four years as a varsity golfer. Brown was low medalist at the recent Cullman County Tournament.

Ebert, a four-year letter winner at St. Mary's Central Catholic High School, placed 5th overall in the state championships in 2007 and is a four-time state qualifier. He posted a round of 72 at Chateau Elan and 73 at Darby Creek in AJGA Events in 2007. A 1 handicap golfer, he was also competed at the Heritage Junior Championship and Nationwide Insurance Junior Tournaments.

Melanson, placed in the Top 15 at the British Columbia AAA High School Provisional Championships and was named to the Zone Team on the West Kootenay Junior Tour. A 1.2 handicap, he competed at L.V. Rogers Secondary School in Nelson, British Columbia.

"I am excited about these three guys joining our program." head coach Jeff Palmer said. " Along with the addition of Ruwaldt Viljoen (redshirt) we should have a dramatically improved squad next year. I expect each of them to come in and contribute."
