Shon
Caston
will compete in his
second and final season with the
Falcons. Last season, Shon appeared in
29 games, averaged 4.0 points per game
and shot 41 percent from the 3-point
line. He will compete for playing time
as a guard. He scored in double figures
in three games and posted a
double-double (points and assists) with
15 points and 15 assists. while
collecting six rebounds against Carver
Bible College.
Shon transferred to UM
from New Mexico State University, where
he competed in 18 games. He also
competed his freshman season for coach
Richard Wells at Los Angeles Trade Tech.
There, he was named a First Team
All-American and First Team All-South
Coast Conference North Division pick.
Shon averaged 18.1 points and 4.1
rebounds per game, shot 50 percent from
the field and 80 percent from the free
throw line. He also made 46 percent of
his 3-point field goals.
Shon played for coach
Phil McNeely at Duncanville High School
in suburban Dallas, Tex. He was named
All-District, team MVP and averaged 11
points and three rebounds per game his
senior season. He was also the recipient
of the “Sixth Man of the Year” award,
while helping his team to the Texas
State Regional Finals.
A family and consumer
science major at UM, he is the son of
Felix and Pamela Caston. |
