Falcons Open Conference Play with a 74-65 Win over West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (8-8, 1-0 GSC East) ruined the University of West Georgia’s (3-11, 0-1 GSC East) grand opening of their new 7,000 seat arena by beating the Wolves 74-65 inside The Coliseum. The Falcons were led by juniors Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) and Freddy Little (Raleigh, North Carolina). Flowers had a double-double while Little scored a game-high 18 points.   more
 

 

Falcons Fall to No. 5 Arkansas-Monticello on the Road, 71-62

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (7-8) fell just short of an upset against No. 5 University of Arkansas-Monticello (10-2) on the road, 71-62. The Falcons played near-even basketball with the Boll Weevils but fell victim to a late first half run that gave UAM a 10-point lead. The Falcons out-scored UAM 35-34 in the second half but were unable to overcome their first half deficit.   more

Flowers Breaks Single Game Rebounding Record in Win over Columbus State, 75-55

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (7-7) evened out its record in the final game of the 2008 portion of their season with a win over Columbus State University (2-3), 75-55. Junior Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) grabbed 28 rebounds breaking an eight-year record held by Earl Ike (1998-2000) in the Montevallo record books.   more

Falcons Fall in High-Scoring Contest with Mars Hill, 95-80

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (6-7) fell to Mars Hill College (7-1), 95-80, at the Columbus State Holiday Tournament. The Falcons and Lions each shot over 54 percent from the field and combined for 175 points in just 40 minutes of play. The Falcons had five players in double-figures while the Lions countered with five of their own.   more
