Garett Mims returns for
his fourth and final season of competition with the Falcons. He
will be expected to compete for time on the mound. Last season,
he led the team in victories (10) while competing out of the
bullpen. He appeared in 24 games, and struck out a team-high 93
batters in 72.1 innings of work. He struck out season-best eight
strikeouts against West Alabama at the Gulf South Conference
Tournament in Millington, Tenn. For his hard work, he was named
to the Second Team All-Gulf South Conference. As a sophomore, he
appeared in eight games, started in two games, and posted a 7.94
ERA in 17 innings of work. He earned a victory with a
season-best seven strikeouts against Miles College. As a
freshman, he appeared in 14 games, started in six games, and
posted a 2.27 ERA in 31.2 innings of work. He struck out five
batters in seven innings of work against Miles College.
Mims prepped at nearby Jemison High School competing for coach
Jerry Harrison. There, he was a two-time All-Star, All-Region
and All-County selection, and was team MVP and team captain.
A kinesiology major at UM, Mims is the son of Craig Mims and
Vikki Adams.
