Zac Blakney competes in his second and final season with the Falcons and will compete for playing time on the mound as a starting pitcher. Last season, Zac led the team in innings pitched (93.2) games started (18) and was tied with Zach Andrews for the team lead in victories (7). He posted a 7-3 record and 5.00 ERA. He did not allow an earned run in seven innings to earn a conference victory over West Alabama. Zac spent the past summer competing in the Valley Baseball League, where he was named an All-Star

Zac is a transfer to UM from Jeff State Community College, where he was an All-Conference pick, while competing for coach David Russo. He posted a 2.53 ERA in 14 games with 75 strikeouts in 78.1 innings of work his sophomore season. He also posted a 2.79 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 77 innings of work his freshman season.

Blakney competed for coach Pat Keedy at Mortimer Jordan High School in Morris, where he was an All-State, North Jefferson News First Team All-Area and Birmingham News All-Metro Team selection.

A kinesiology major at UM, he is the son of Ronnie and Diane Blakney.
