Zach Andrews returns for his fourth and final season of competition with the Falcons. Andrews tied for second on the team in victories (7), saves (6) and appearances (27). He threw seven shutout innings over a weekend series against Valdosta State, while earning a save. He was rewarded for his work in the classroom as he was one of three Falcons named to the HAVOC GSC All-Academic Team. As a sophomore in 2006, as the Hartselle native became the second Falcon in as many years to be named to the Rawlings/ABCA All-America Team. Andrews was named to the Second Team in 2006. Fellow Hartselle alum Trent Preuitt was a First Team selection in 2005. Andrews was also named to the First Team of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers All-American Team, and a First Team and unanimous selection as a relief pitcher to the All-Gulf South Conference Team. Andrews established single-season records for appearances in relief (32), and saves (11).He posted 6-1 record and 2.53 ERA in 64 innings with 68 strikeouts. He tossed four scoreless innings with a season-best seven strikeouts against West Chester in the National Championship Series in Montgomery. As a freshman, Zach showed his durability, co-leading the team in appearances with 24, and he also started one game. He posted a 5-1 record and 6.14 ERA and collected a team-high three saves, all in GSC play. Zach was third on the team in strikeouts (51), and had a season-best seven strikeouts in a victory over West Georgia. He also threw 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, and earned the victory against UAH.

Andrews competed for coach William Booth at Hartselle High School, where he was named MVP, Most Valuable Pitcher, 2004 Louisville Slugger Pre-Season High School First Team All-American, Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State First Team, Birmingham News All-State First Team, Decatur Daily Large School Player of the Year, and 2003 Wendy’s All-Tournament Team. He was also named to the Who’s Who Among American High School Student Sports Edition.

A kinesiology major at UM, he is the son of Danny and Patty Andrews.
