Lauren Tortorici
returns for her third season of competition. Last season, Lauren led the team in kills, kills per game, digs, and digs per game. She was also named to the Second Team All-Gulf South Conference, GSC All-Academic Team, GSC Honor Roll and to the All-Tournament Team of UM Coca-Cola Classic. She posted a double-double (kills and digs) in 25 of 37 matches, collecting a season-best 22 kills against Alabama-Huntsville and 24 digs against Converse. The Birmingham native is closing in 1,000 career kills. As a freshman, Lauren made noteworthy contributions to the Lady Falcons, averaging 2.94 kills, 3.30 digs and .56 service aces per game.

Lauren was a First Team All-State, AVCA 6A First Team All-State, Most Valuable Defensive Player, All-County and All-Metro selection at Oak Mountain High School her senior season. She also is ninth all time in state high school history with 1240 career kills. Lauren also competed for Magic City Thunder Volleyball Club, where  her team were 2005 South Region champions and USA Junior Olympic Volleyball championship participants in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Lauren played in the USA National tournament four times in her club volleyball career. During her high school career Lauren was involved in
the National Honor Society, Key Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. For the second consecutive year, Lauren was named to the GSC Honor Roll. She has also been involved with Campus Outreach, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Alpha Lambda Delta and Sigma Alpha Pi leadership honorary. An Education major at UM, Lauren is the daughter of Kristina and Marc Tortorici.
