women's tennis team got back on the winning track,
earning an in-region, 8-1 victory against Stillman
College, in non-conference action in Tuscaloosa
Thursday afternoon.
All six Lady Falcons posted straight-set victories
in singles. Rachel Hartley and Kristi
Kelly did not drop a game either in singles, nor
as teammates in No. 1 doubles.
The host Tigers earned their victory at No. 3
doubles.
The victory snaps a losing skid dating back to March
1.
UM (5-12) will host the University of Mobile for a
non-conference match and final home match of the

posted their second consecutive in-region victory

respectively. Abdool posted a straight-set victory
over Kylie Realmuto.
Brown and Abdool have been named team captains for the
2008 season. Brown is in her second and final season

MONTEVALLO (12/1) -- The University of Montevallo
tennis team received a pre-season ranking of No. 9 in the South Region, it
has been announced by the International Tennis
Association (ITA) and College Tennis Online.
The top six teams in the South Region are all Gulf
South Conference schools. Valdosta State is No. 1,
followed by West Florida, Delta State, Harding,
North Alabama and Henderson State.
A total of 26 teams comprise the ITA South Region.
UM concluded the 2007 season ranked No. 9 in the
South Region.
MONTEVALLO (10/18) -- The University of Montevallo
tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over Central
Alabama Community College, in action at Varsity
Courts.
Rachel Hartley , Terrylisa Abdool and Audrey Carrio
earned straight set victories in singles. Kelly
Vaughn won in a third set tiebreaker. UM also earned
two victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
UM has concluded the fall season.

MONTEVALLO (10/16) -- Individual members of the University of Montevallo
women's tennis team have experienced success in
recent fall tennis tournaments.
In a tournament hosted by the University of North
Alabama, Rachel Hartley advanced to the finals of
the singles, where she eventually lost to a player
from UNA. Hartley teamed with Kristi Kelly and
advanced to the finals of the doubles.
At the Central Alabama Invitational, Kelly Vaughn
advanced to the championship match of Flight # 2
singles. Dorothy Sherman and Terrylisa Abdool
advanced to the championship match of Flight # 2
doubles consolation.
UM will conclude the fall season with a home match
against Central Alabama CC Thursday afternoon at
3:30 p.m.
MOBILE (9/28) -- The University of Montevallo
women's tennis team posted a 5-4 victory over Spring
Hill College, in a fall women's tennis match on
Thursday.
The result will count towards the 2007-08 overall
standings.
Rachel Hartley, Kristi Kelly, Terrylisa Abdool and
Kelly Vaughn earned team points for victories in
singles. Hartley and Kelly combined to win a team
point in doubles.
With the teams tied at 4-4, Abdool clinched the
victory for UM with a 12-10 victory in a third set
tiebreak.
UM travels to Pensacola, Fla. to compete in
an ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by the University
of West Florida this weekend.
MONTEVALLO (9/27) -- The University of Montevallo
women's tennis team has announced their 2007 fall
schedule.
On Thursday, September 27, UM will travel to Spring
Hill College for a match.
UM will then travel to Pensacola, Fla. to compete in
an ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by the University
of West Florida.
UM will next compete in a tournament in Florence,
hosted by the University of North Alabama on October
6 and 7.
The tournament play
continues on Oct. 12 and 13, as the Lady
Falcons compete in a tournament hosted
by Central Alabama Community College.
UM will conclude the fall schedule with
a home match against CACC on October 18
at the Varsity Courts, beginning at 3:30
p.m.
MONTEVALLO (5/10) -- Rachel Hartley has
signed a national letter of intent to play women’s
tennis at the University of Montevallo, it has been
announced.
Hartley is among
the top ranked junior players in the
state of Alabama. The Mobile native is
ranked No. 3 in the USTA Alabama
rankings and is considered one of the
top players in the South Region.
She will soon graduate from the Arnold
School and has trained at the
prestigious Smith Stearns Tennis Academy
in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
“We have high hopes and expectations for Rachel,” head coach Steve Faulkner said. “She will make an immediate impact for our team.”
