BALAAM AND JACKSON NAMED TO SECOND TEAM NSCAA/adidas  ALL-SOUTH REGION TEAM
 

MONTEVALLO (12/21) -- Junior midfielder Stacey Balaam and junior defender Adele Jackson have been named to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas All-South Region Team, it has been announced. Both were named to the Second Team All-South Region.

It is the second consecutive All-Region award for Jackson, who was named to the Second Team All-South Region last season.

Balaam and Jackson were both named to the First Team All-Gulf South Conference and GSC All-Tournament Teams. The two were also named to the Daktronics All-America Team.

Balaam finished second in the nation in assists per game (.83), established a school single-season assist record (18) and became the school's all-time leader in assists (53). The Suffolk, England native is also tied for 22nd in the nation in points per game (2.00), with 13 goals and 18 assists in 22 matches this season. She converted her two penalty kick opportunities in the post-season, one against Saint Leo University for the game-winning goal in the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament and one against Ouachita Baptist in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament to complete a perfect 7-of-7 in PK opportunities for the season. She was also named Daktronics South Region Player of the Year.

Jackson scored four goals with two assists in 22 matches this season. The Lincolnshire, England native scored the game-winning goal against Delta State and helped UM post four shutout victories.
