Jo-Anne
McCarthy
returns for her fourth and final season with the
Lady Falcons. She will complete for
playing time as a defender. Last season,
she was one of five Lady Falcons to
compete and start in 16 matches. For her
work on the field, she was named to the
Second Team All-Gulf South Conference.
As a sophomore, she appeared in 18 matches, started in
17 matches, and helped the Lady Falcons
post seven shutout victories. That
season, she was named a named a First
Team All-GSC selection. As a
freshman, she appeared and started in 13
matches and tallied one goal and four
assists.
A native of Belfast,
Ireland, McCarthy prepped at Dominican
College in Fort William. Jo-Anne also
competed for the Newington Girls
Football Club where she served as
captain and was Player of the Year in
2001, 2002 and 2003. She has four
brothers, Edward, Michael, Brendan and
Conor, and a sister, Sheila.
A
kinesiology major at UM, she is the
daughter of Edward and Nuala McCarthy.
