MONTEVALLO AT No. 4 IN FIRST NSCAA/adidas
NCAA DIVISION II POLL OF THE SEASON
MONTEVALLO (8/19) -- The University of Montevallo
will begin the 2008 season ranked in the Top 5 of NCAA
Division II Men's Soccer. The Falcons are No. 4 in the
first NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II
National Rankings poll
of the 2008 season, it has
been announced.
The four participants in the national
semifinals occupy the first four spots. Defending national
champion Franklin Pierce (NH) (17-2-4) is No. 1.
Lincoln Memorial University (20-4-1) is No. 2.
Midwestern State University (TX) (18-3-2) is No. 3.
After UM,
Northern Kentucky University, is No. 5. Sonoma State
University (CA) is No. 6, Metro State (CO) is No. 7,
East Stroudsburg University (PA) is No. 8. Dowling College (NY)
is at No. 9, while Lee-McRae College (NC), the team the Falcons
defeated in the national quarterfinals rounds out the
Top 10.
The Falcons concluded the 2007 season in the national
championship semifinals with a school-record 18
victories. UM begins the 2008 season tonight as the
Falcons travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to play William
Carey College in an exhibition match, beginning at 7
p.m.
