MONTEVALLO (5/1) – The University of Montevallo men’s
golf program has signed three student-athletes for the
2008-09 school year.
Nathan Brown from Cullman, Aaron Ebert from Huron, Ohio and Jordan Melanson from Nelson, British Columbia have signed letters of intent to compete for the Falcons, beginning in Fall 2008.
Brown, a two-time 3A All-State as well as an All-County, All-Area and All-Region selection at Good Hope High School in Cullman, was named Cullman County Player of the Year and Low Medalist in the Cullman County Tournament in 2007. He also won the 2007 Elks Tournament, where he set a course record at Cullman Municipal Golf Course (63). He has been part of a team that has advanced to the "Elite Eight" in their division all four years as a varsity golfer. Brown was low medalist at the recent Cullman County Tournament.
Ebert, a four-year letter winner at St. Mary's Central
Catholic High School, placed 5th overall in the state
championships in 2007 and is a four-time state
qualifier. He posted a round of 72 at Chateau Elan and
73 at Darby Creek in AJGA Events in 2007. A 1 handicap
golfer, he was also competed at the Heritage Junior
Championship and Nationwide Insurance Junior
Tournaments.
Melanson, placed in the Top 15 at the British Columbia
AAA High School Provisional Championships and was named
to the Zone Team on the West Kootenay Junior Tour. A 1.2
handicap, he competed at L.V. Rogers Secondary School in
Nelson, British Columbia.
"I am excited about these three guys joining our
program." head coach Jeff Palmer said. " Along with the
addition of Ruwaldt Viljoen (redshirt) we should have a
dramatically improved squad next year. I expect each of
them to come in and contribute."
