Taylor "T.J." Butts competes in his first season with the Montevallo men’s golf program. He has already made an impact in the fall season, posting the best individual finish for the team in two tournaments, including a 14th place finish overall at the Derrall Foreman Invitational.

T.J. was named the 2006 Gadsden Times Player of the Year as well as the Gadsden Times All-Area team, while competing for coach Bruce Young and swing coach Buster Inman at Etowah High School. He was the top player for the EHS golf team for two years, and was low medalist in nine of 10 matches in 2006 with a stroke average of 35. He competed with the golf team for four years, and his team were county champions for three seasons. He also competed for four years with the Etowah High basketball team.

T.J. played in 15 junior events in 2006, earning four victories, eight top-five finishes, and eleven Top 10 finishes with the Robert Trent Jones Junior Golf Association.

He was Top 10 in his Senior Class, and a member of the Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta.

A math education major at UM, he is the son of John and Staci Butts.
