NATALIE BELL POWELL
Women’s Soccer
2004 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Natalie Bell was one of the first student-athletes to receive recognition as an All-Gulf South Conference performer in the sport of women’s soccer. A member of the first-ever Lady Falcon women’s soccer team in 1995, Natalie was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference in 1996. That year, she was sixth in the GSC in scoring, averaging 1.53 points per match. She was a transfer to UM from Catonville Community College in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was an All-Region and All-Tournament selection. Natalie is a 1999 graduate from UM in Family and Consumer Sciences Merchandising with a concentration in Interior Design Merchandising. With her family, Natalie currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
Don HANCOCK
Men’s Golf
2004 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Don Hancock was a highly decorated men’s golf student-athlete at UM. A three-year letterwinner, Don was twice named NAIA All-District 27 in 1984 and 1985, and was named All-Southern States Conference in 1985. He earned All-Tournament honors in twelve tournaments, and was the medalist in the Nashboro Village Intercollegiate in 1983. Throughout his career, he posted the best individual score for the Falcon team on six golf courses including the Stillwaters Golf Club in Dadeville in 1985 and Terri Pines Country Club in Cullman. He finished his career in the top three all-time in lowest Individual Season Stroke Average and Career Stroke Average. A 1985 graduate from UM in Physical Education, Don currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Jason DOUGLASS
Baseball
2004 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Jason Douglass was one of the finest pitchers to don a Falcon uniform. A two-year letterwinner for the Falcons in 1993 and 1994, he was named a First Team NAIA All-American in 1994 He set a record still held to this day for innings pitched in a single season with 138 2/3 innings in 1994. He set a record for most victories in a single season with 18, and set a school record (since tied) for most games started in a single season with 15 in 1994. He remains in the top six in single-season strikeouts. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1996. Sadly, he tragically lost his life in an accident in 2002. He is inducted posthumously into the University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame.
Jess RAWLS
Meritorious Service
2004 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Jess Rawls is a long-time financial supporter of the Falcon baseball program. A two-year letterwinner in baseball at Alabama College in 1966 and 1967, Jess moved into the business sector where he found success with his own brokerage business, establishing Rawls Brokerage in 1978. He has spent many years with the Falcon Club, from its grass roots beginnings. Jess was a member of the Falcon Club for 15 years and Board member for four years. He was also a member of the Board of Advisors for the Michael Stephens College of Business for eight years and Vice-Chairman of the Bruno’s Memorial Golf Classic for 11 years, one of the premier golf tournaments of the Men’s Senior PGA Tour. For his continued dedication towards the University of Montevallo athletic department, Jess is inducted for meritorious service. |
