Katie Munkus will compete in her second season with the University of Montevallo women's cross-country program. Last season, Katie earned the team's best time at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga meet. She posted a season-best 21:34 at the Rhodes Invitational, and finished second on the team at the 2006 Gulf South Conference Meet (20:52). Katie was also one of two runners to compete in the 2006 NCAA Regional Meet, recording a time of 25:20 in the 6K course in Memphis, Tenn. Katie was named to the GSC Honor Roll, one of four Lady Falcons to be honored.

Katie was a four-year letter-winner for coach David Dobbs at Hewitt-Trussville High School. Katie was a state qualifier in cross-country, and named in Who's Who in Sports. She was also a member of Mu Alpha Theta. Kathryn posted a time of 20:48 (5k) at the Alabama Girls Cross-Country State Meet. Her personal record for that distance is 20:10.

Katie has two sisters, Emily Sellers and Leanne Munkus.

A family and consumer science (dietetics) major at UM, she is the daughter of Landis Munkus.
