Demetrius “Brian” Carlyle will compete in his first season with the University of Montevallo men’s basketball program. He will compete for playing time in the post area. Brian is a transfer to UM from Atlanta Metropolitan College, where he competed for coach Robert Pritchett. He was a two-year letter winner and was twice named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Brian competed for coach Issac Bright at Emmanuel County Institute in Twin City, Ga. There, he was named team Best Defensive Player and Most Improved Player his junior and senior seasons. His team also advanced to the state Final Four his senior year. He was also named in Who’s Who Among American Students.

Brian has a sister, Shay. A kinesiology major at UM, he is the son of Charles Carlyle.
