B.J. Holloway returns for
his third and final season with the Montevallo baseball program.
Last season, he appeared and started in 60 games, batting. 313
with 5 home runs and 42 RBI. He was tied for third on the team
in doubles (13), had 16 multi-hit and 15 multi-RBI games, along
with a 15 game hitting streak. He was also named to the Dean’s
List and to the GSC Honor Roll. As a sophomore, he appeared in
60 games, started in 57 games, and batted .304 with a home run
and 31 RBI. He was fifth on the team in RBI (51) and fifth in
base hits (58). He had 16 multi-hit games, had an eight-game
hitting streak, and went 3-for-4 against Chico State in the
National Championship Series. He led the team in putout assists,
posting a .953 fielding percentage. He will compete for playing
time in the infield.
B.J. is a transfer to UM from Western Kentucky University, where
he competed his freshman year. There, he appeared in 20 games,
started at shortstop in nine games, and collected his first base
hit against Central Michigan.
B.J. was a two-time Conference Player of the Year, an All-State
selection and twice named All-Conference while playing for coach
Joe Tacchini at Henley High School in Klamath Falls, Ore. While
at Henley, B.J. was a four-time scholar-athlete.
A kinesiology major at UM, he is the son of James and Netta
Holloway.
