Scholarships For Currently Enrolled Art Majors
The Dorothy Robbins Mullican Scholarship
Established in 1991 by the Mullican family in honor of Dorothy Robbins Mullican, an alumna of the University of Montevallo. The scholarship is open to all Junior and Senior level art majors who meet the criteria listed below.
Southern Progress Scholarship in Graphic Design
Established in 2002 for junior and senior level art majors with a concentration in graphic design.
The Madge Taylor Sims Scholarship
Established in 2001 by a bequest from Madge Taylor Sims, the scholarship is open to all Junior and Senior level art majors who meet the criteria listed below.
*Scholarships apply to partial payment of tuition for the fall semester, 2008 or spring 2009.
*The scholarships will be awarded on honors day.
*Scholarship recipient may re-apply annually.
*Should a scholarship recipient withdraw from the University, or decline the scholarship for any reason, the award is refunded to the scholarship fund.
CRITERIA
1.The applicant must be an Art Major currently enrolled in good standing at the University of Montevallo.
2.The applicant must have earned 61 semester hours at the point of application.
3.Applicants will have demonstrated their commitment to a career in art or an art-related field.
4.Recipients will have maintained high standards in their art classes and demonstrated success in their major.
5.Financial need will be a consideration in making the selection.
PROCEDURES:
Return the application along with a portfolio of five to ten of your most successful works of art. Each work should be neatly presented and labeled with your name, the title, medium and date of completion. Slides are acceptable, but real work is preferred.
DEADLINE:
The portfolio and application must be delivered to the Art Office – (Bloch 206) Tuesday, February 17, 2009 by 4:00 PM and picked up on Thursday, February 19, by 4:00 PM.
