Professional Biography

Scott Meyer earned a PH D in art education from Penn State University
where his dual focus on studio ceramics began his career as an artist.
In 1986, he joined the art faculty at UM where he is currently Professor of Art.
Dr. Meyer's ceramic sculpture and large installation works are exhibited
nationally in galleries, art centers and museums. He is the author and the
subject of numerous articles in national and international ceramics and
sculpture journals. His involvement in rare kiln design and construction
continues to inform his art and his teaching. He has won numerous awards
for his sculpture and at UM has received The Distinguished Teacher Award
from the College of Fine Arts, the University Scholar Award, and the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award from the UM Alumni Association. He has been selected three times for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
