Martha Allen Lecture Series
The Martha Allen Lecture Series in the Visual Arts was established by a generous endowment from Mrs. Charles F. Grisham of Huntsville. The Series is designed to bring prominent artists, critics and art historians to campus to deliver a major public lecture on their work and to meet directly with students and faculty. This annual lecture series is named in honor of Martha Allen who taught art at the University from 1934 to 1972. Martha was a well-respected artist and educator who worked tirelessly to introduce her students and the State of Alabama to contemporary art. Mrs. Grisham's gift acknowledges and continues this commitment at the University.
