Purpose

  • To recognize an alumnus whose contributions, thorough career or community service, reflect positively on society at the local, state or national level.    

Criteria/Eligibility

  • Nominee must have received a degree (undergraduate or graduate) from the University of Montevallo/Alabama College. 
  • Nominee must be over the age of 35. 
  • Active membership in the Alumni Association is preferable. 
  • Former Distinguished Alumnus Award recipients and the current or immediate past president of the National Alumni Association are ineligible to receive this award. 

Nomination Process

  • Nominations are accepted year round with a deadline of November 1 prior to the presentation of the award in February.

  • Three letters of endorsement are required.  Additional supporting documentation including resume/vita and other materials are encouraged. 

  • It is the responsibility of the nominator to ensure that nominations are complete including submission of all documentation.

  • Nominations remain on file for reconsideration for 3 years, including the initial year of nomination.   

Award

  • The award is officially presented in February at the Homecoming Awards Luncheon.  The recipient is recognized with a plaque and gift from the National Alumni Association.
