The University of Montevallo has other entering freshman scholarships available that vary in award criteria and amounts. Entering freshmen must submit an application for admission to the University along with an official high school transcript and ACT or SAT score by the indicated scholarship deadline.

A special application must be completed to apply for the following scholarships.

Available Scholarships

  • Ann Kohen Parker Scholarship

    Amount varies. Awarded based on community service and leadership. Not renewable. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu, or (205) 665-6030.

  • Buck Creek Scholarship

    Amount Varies. Available to freshman student with financial need; academic achievement; community involvement. For any questions, contact the Student Aid Office, finaid@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6050.

  • Ernest Slaughter Jr. Scholarship

    Amount varies. Available to students with a high school GPA of 3.0 or above; above the UM average score for freshmen on ACT; record of good citizenship and involvement in activities during high school; financial need.   • Gary Aldridge Memorial Scholarship

    Amount varies. Awarded based on merit. Must have a letter of recommendation from the Boys and Girls club of Decatur, Alabama. Not renewable. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu, or (205) 665-6030.

  • James I. Harrison Scholarship

    Amount varies. Available to freshman applicants who are Shelby County residents. For any questions, contact the Student Aid Office, finaid@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6050.

  • John and Bettie Meadows Scholarship

    $1,500. Must be an entering freshman that graduated from McAdory High School. Preference will be given to band students and athletes. ACT score must be at or above average for UM freshmen. Not renewable. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu, or (205) 665-6030.

  • Justice Pelham and Gladys Morrison Merrill Scholarship

    Amount varies. Available to entering first-year students with financial need demonstrating academic achievement and community involvement. For any questions, contact the Student Aid Office, finaid@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6050.

  • Kilgore-Elledge Scholarship

    $200. Available to entering first-year student from Calhoun County. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6030.

  • Lamont Franklin Scholarship

    Amount varies. Available to students from Calera High School. Recipient is selected by Calera High School.

  • Libby Queen Scholarship

    Amount Varies. Must be a first generation female attending college. Not renewable. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu, or (205) 665-6030.

  • Mabel P. Sewell Scholarship

    Amount varies. Available to freshmen from Selma or Dallas County. For any questions, contact the Student Aid Office, finaid@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6050.

  • Margery and Kathryn Purdy Scholarship

    Margery and Kathryn Purdy Scholarship – $2,400. Awarded to outstanding secondary school students on the basis of inclusion as a semi-finalist or finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Renewable with a minimum 3.25 GPA.   • Marguerite Hall Scholarship

    Amount varies. Awarded based on community service and leadership. Not renewable. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu, or (205) 665-6030.

  • Mobile Scholarship

    Amount Varies. Must be from Mobile, Alabama. Award is based on merit and need. Not renewable. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu, or (205) 665-6030.

  • National Merit/Vulcan Scholarship

    $2,000. Awarded to a National Merit Finalist. Renewable with a 3.5 GPA. Contact the Office of Admissions, admissions@montevallo.edu, or (205) 665-6030.

  • Patrick Gordon Smith Memorial Scholarship

    Amount varies. Available to a senior graduating from Priceville High School (Ala.) with financial need. For any questions, contact the Student Aid Office, finaid@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6050.

  • Sarah G. Palmer Adult Returning Student Scholarship For Adult Returning Students

    Academic Scholarship- $1,800. Scholarship available for adult returning students of any major.  Usually awarded to students with freshman or sophomore standing. Must complete an essay of between 500-800 words. See English scholarships for more information. Scholarship is not renewable.

  • Vulcan Materials Company Scholarship

    Awarded to one applicant (incoming freshman) each year, who is the dependent of a Vulcan Materials employee. Awards are based on outstanding achievement and community service. Amount is $3,000 and is renewable for three years as long as the student is enrolled full-time and in good standing with the University.   • Wales Wallace Jr. Memorial Scholarship

    Amount Varies. Available to an entering first-year student from Shelby County with financial need. Students must have a good academic record and involvement in extra-curricular activities. For any questions, contact the Student Aid Office, finaid@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6050.

  • William Bradford Stephens Memorial Scholarship

    Amount varies. Available to entering freshmen with preference given to students from Chelsea High School with financial need. . Students must represent leadership and integrity through community service. For any questions, contact the Student Aid Office, finaid@montevallo.edu or (205) 665-6050.
