Employee Assistance Program
EmployeeConnect offers to all eligible employees and their immediate family members professional and confidential counseling designed to help with relationship, financial, and legal issues, as well as mental health and substance abuse. Extensive mental health services including counseling are available to employees who subscribe to the University’s BCBS group health insurance plan.
Health and Wellness
Among the many benefits to working at UM, perhaps some of the most significant are the opportunities to nurture personal health and wellness.
Flexible Spending Accounts
UM provides flexible spending accounts for employees to pay eligible health care and dependent day care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
Other Personal Benefits
Employees may attend all campus athletic events free of charge upon presentation of a UM identification card.
Employees are eligible for a 20% discount on all items at the Barnes & Noble/University of Montevallo Bookstore except textbooks, paperback books, and film processing.
There are several places to dine on campus ranging from traditional fare to sushi. Food service is available to all UM employees at considerable savings.
Concert and Lecture Series
Employees are encouraged to take advantage of the annual Concert and Lecture Series, which, along with other plays and concerts provided for free or for a nominal charge, afford employees unusually broad cultural opportunities. Check the calendar often for upcoming events and shows.
Golf Course Access
Membership in an 18-hole golf course is available to employees. Casual play is also available for modest fees, as are golf cart and pull cart rentals.
Employees, spouses and dependents have library borrowing privileges from the campus library.
Service employees serving in voluntary military units are allowed up to 21 days of leave with pay to attend required training.
