How to Access ForUM and ForUM Email

What is ForUM?

ForUM is the University of Montevallo’s online portal, a centralized web site containing information and services for UM students. While logged in to ForUM, UM students can register for classes, check their grades, make online payments and much more.

How do I access ForUM?

In order to access ForUM, you will need to know your ForUM User Name and Password.

What is my ForUM User Name?

Look on the letter that you received from admissions. It includes your ForUM Email Address. Your ForUM User Name is simply the part of your ForUM Email Address that precedes the "@" sign.

For example, if your ForUM Email Address were jdoe1@forum.montevallo.edu, your ForUM User Name would be jdoe1.

What is my ForUM Password? 

Your ForUM account does not come with a password. You get to create it yourself.

  1. Go to UM’s main web site
  2. Click the ForUM icon near the bottom of the page:

  1. You will be taken to the ForUM login page.
  2. Click the link on the left side of the page that reads Set initial password:
  3. The UM Password Set/Reset page will open:

  1. Fill in each of the fields on this page, and choose a password.
    1. Be sure to read the Password Requirements at the bottom of the page
  2. Click Reset Password to set your initial password.
  3. When you successfully set your password, a confirmation message will appear.
  4. Return to the ForUM login page, and login with your User Name and password.

How Do I Login to ForUM Email?

ForUM Email is a hosted email service provided by
Microsoft. As such, it won’t look like a Montevallo web site.

  1. Login to ForUM.                                                                                                         
  2. Click the ForUM Email link at the top-right of any ForUM page:   ForUM Email
  3. A new window will open, taking you to a Microsoft Outlook Live login screen.
  4. The Outlook Live sign-in screen asks you for your Windows Live ID and Password.
    1. Your Windows Live ID is your ForUM Email address, (found on your letter from admissions or by contacting the help desk).
    2. Your Windows Live password is the same as your ForUM password.
