2008 – 2009

Consideration of Strategic Plan brainstorming results

Campus-wide involvement in narrowing options and selecting topic

Information Literacy (IL) selected for QEP on March 23, 2009

Analysis of brainstorming ideas, University mission/vision/Strategic Plan, and institutional data related to student learning

Completion of IL, “Best Practices” scan and review of IL-related QEPs

 

2009 – 2010

Development of IL definition, goals, SLOs, and implementation scheme

Campus –wide involvement in defining and refining core components of the IL program

Consideration of capacity and sustainability issues related to infrastructure, program administration, staffing, budgetary requirements, etc.

Completion of IL literature review and environmental scan of existing UM efforts related to IL

Completion of “Evaluation Tool Comparison Study”

 

2010 – 2011

Development of Assessment Plan and campus-wide Promotional Plan

Selection of QEP title – “Brick by Brick: Building Information Literacy”

March 1-3, 2011 – On site SACS visit

Revised to literature review to include most current sources

Selected pre-post assessment tool base on “Evaluation Tool Comparison Study”

Identified and submitted nominee for QEP Evaluator to serve on the On-Site Reaffirmation Team

 

2011 – 2012

Launch of Foundational Courses – ENG 101/103 and 102/104, COMS 101/102, and MIS 161

Consultant hired to lead workshop for faculty to facilitate implementation, SLOs, and assessment tools (Spring 2011 & Summer 2011)

SAILS is administered as a pre-test to students enrolled in ENG 101/103

Course-embedded assessments are ongoing

Assessment results from Year 1 are shared with faculty and other appropriate groups/individuals for review and program improvement plans

 

2012 – 2013

Second year of Foundational Courses are offered and expanded with improvements identified through analysis of assessment data

Workshops and travel opportunities provided for faculty teaching Foundational Courses or planning Advancing Courses for launch in 2013-2014

SAILS administration and course-embedded assessments continue

Assessment results from all available direct and indirect measures from Years 1-2 are shared with faculty and other appropriate groups/individuals for review and program improvement plans

 

2013 – 2014

Launch of Advancing Courses – in General Education and Major curricula; continue, expand, and improve Foundational Course options

Workshops and travel opportunities provided for faculty teaching Foundational and Advancing Courses or planning Mastery Courses for launch in 2014-2015

SAILS administration and course-embedded assessments continue

Assessment results from Years 1-3 are shared with faculty and other appropriate groups/individuals for review and program improvement plans

 

2014 – 2015

Launch of Mastery Courses – in Major curricula; continue expand, and improve Foundational and Advancing Course options

Workshops and travel opportunities provided for faculty teaching courses in any of the IL development tiers

SAILS administration (including post-test) and course-embedded assessments continue

Assessment results from Years 1-4 are shared with faculty and other appropriate groups/individuals for review and program improvement plans

 

2015 – 2016

IL Curriculum is in full implementation with active courses from all developmental tiers

Workshops and travel opportunities provided for faculty teaching courses in any of the IL developmental tiers

SAILS administration (Including post-test) and course-embedded assessments continue

Assessment results from Years 1-5 are shared with faculty and other appropriate groups/individuals for review and program improvement plans
