The focus is on communication in the Public Relations Office. A goal of the office is to communicate effectively and regularly with Montevallo constituents to promote and raise awareness of the University of Montevallo, Alabamas Public Liberal Arts University®. The office has central responsibility for coordinating communications with the media and the production of a variety of publications, from the UM Undergraduate Bulletin to programs for major campus events. |
Providing accurate and timely information throughout the year to its many constituents is a primary objective of the Public Relations Office. This goal takes on particular importance during times of emergency. To provide a framework for responding in the most-effective manner possible, the Public Relations Office has developed an Emergency Response Plan. To keep the campus community well informed, the Public Relations Office produces the Wednesday Memo, a biweekly publication for faculty and staff. Visit Montevallo's Experts Listing and Online Guide, a resource for the media and for professional, educational, civic and cultural groups seeking UM speakers. Montevallo Today, an award-winning magazine distributed to some 22,000 active alumni, is published three times per year by this office. The Public Relations Office also operates the UM Welcome Center, located on the first floor of the Will Lyman House.
