Greek Sororities - Panhellenic
PNM Recruitment Rules
- A potential member must be a regularly
matriculated full-time student (minimum of 12 semester hours), at the University of
Montevallo to be eligible.
- A potential member shall not be, or ever
have been, an initiated member of an NPC
group.
- No potential member shall visit the
sorority halls except for the designated Open
Houses until recruitment is over
- All Potential members shall attend all
formal rush parties which she has accepted
invitations. In case of illness or other
emergencies the potential member shall notify
Panhellenic.
- In the event a potential member feels she
must withdraw from Recruitment she shall
notify Panhellenic immediately.
- The penalty for not attending parties is
ineligibility to continue through
Recruitment.
- No sorority members, including new members
and alumnae, may visit a potential member
anytime or anywhere until the end of formal
recruitment.
- No sorority member may accept any gift
(meal, coke, ride, etc.) from any potential
member. No sorority member shall give a gift
to any potential member. This also includes
written notes and letters.
- There will be no promising of bids
directly or indirectly by any member, or
alumnae of a sorority.
- Strict silence is the period in which
there will be no conversations between
potential members and sorority members.
Strict silences is designated as the period
of time from the end o the potential members
last party until she reports to the
fraternity of women from which she accepts a
bid. During this tie, sorority members may
not have social contact with potential
member other than through courtesy greetings
(i.e. holding doors, saying hello, etc.)
- Preference cards will be filled out
immediately after the last preference party.
Once the cards have been signed, no change may
be made.
- Infractions of these rules will result in
action taken by the Judiciary Committee of the
Panhellenic Council.
