Some General Computer Security Tips

• Never give your passwords to anyone else.  Yes, this includes your roommate, best friend since 3rd grade and your significant other.

•  Always log out of the browser you are using when you are done. This keeps your credit card entry from buying the next user that new Wii system they have been wanting or changing information on your Facebook or other social networking page.

• Remember when using computers in lab settings or public places like the library, to be especially careful.

  • Always close out the software you are using or that paper you have worked all semester on may end up with yours and the next user's name

  • When using public computers never save your work to the hard drive.  It is easy to save information to My Documents without realizing what you  have done.  If you are unsure where something was saved, check My Documents or the desktop screen.
