Dr. Jeanetta Keller
Jeanetta Corbett Keller of Birmingham, vice chairman of the UM Board of Trustees, represents the Sixth Congressional District on the Board of Trustees. She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Montevallo in 1975. She holds a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Alabama, where she also earned her master’s degree.
Keller is recently retired executive vice president and editorial director of Southern Progress Corp., a leading lifestyle magazine and book publishing company. She joined Southern Progress in 1985 as director of public relations and was named vice president, administration, in 1991.
A native of Montevallo, Keller came to Southern Progress from the University of Montevallo, where she worked for seven years. At UM, she served first as director of environmental and energy education and then as director of alumni affairs and annual-fund giving.
In 2001 she was presented the Distinguished Alumna Award, the most prestigious award presented by the UM National Alumni Association. First presented in 1945, the award honors alumni for their professional achievements and contributions.
Active in community service, as well as in civic and professional organizations, Keller is on the board of directors of The American Village, Brookwood Hospital and the Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the 1990–91 Leadership Birmingham class and the 2001–02 Leadership Alabama class. She is a former member of the UM Foundation Board. She and her husband, Bill, established the Ellon Holliman Corbett Endowment for Library Development at UM in honor of Jeanetta’s mother, who was employed by the University for more than 34 years and who, upon her retirement, was awarded the rank of emerita coordinator of equal opportunity and director of special projects.
