Astronomy Club Meetings

The Astronomy Club usually meets twice a month while school is in session. Though usually on the Wednesdays nearest a new moon, this may change on occasion. The meetings generally consist of discussions related to astronomy and the sky above us while taking turns looking through the telescope.

When scheduled, meetings will begin in Harman Hall room 229. After a very brief introduction, we will all carpool to the observation site. Those not wanting to carpool are also welcome to meet us at the location. Observation will take place in one of several locations, including the University of Montevallo Lake, various members' homes, and the site of the Shepherd Observatory.

The next astronomy club meetings are scheduled for

If the skies are clear, we will carpool to the JWSO site for telescopic and naked eye observation. If they are not, we will view the film “The Journey to Palomar”.
